Transparency report

Reporting period: 1 January 2026 – 31 December 2026 (in preparation)

BookOS publishes an annual transparency report covering content-moderation activity, orders from government authorities, user complaints, and DSA-mandated metrics. This page will be updated in Q1 2027 with the first full report covering calendar year 2026, and annually thereafter, in line with Article 15 of the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).

What we will publish

1. Orders from Member State authorities (Art. 9 / Art. 10 DSA): number received, broken down by Member State and category of illegal content; median and longest time to give effect; median and longest time to inform the issuing authority.
2. Notices submitted under Art. 16 : number received, categorised by alleged type of illegality; number processed using automated means; median and longest time to take a decision; outcomes (content removed / restricted / no action).
3. Own-initiative content moderation : number and type of moderation actions taken at our own initiative, including suspensions and terminations under our Acceptable Use Policy; share taken using automated tools versus human review.
4. Complaints handled under Art. 20 : number received via our internal complaint-handling system, basis (notice, restriction, suspension, termination), median and longest time to decision, reversal rate.
5. Out-of-court dispute settlements (Art. 21): number initiated against BookOS, outcomes, average duration.
6. Suspensions for manifestly illegal content or abuse (Art. 23): number of suspensions applied and lifted.
7. Information about automated moderation tools : qualitative description of any automated tools used, their purposes, precision/recall indicators where measurable, and safeguards.
8. Government requests for user data : number of binding legal requests for user data received, by Member State and legal basis; number complied with in part or in full.

Methodology

Figures are drawn from our internal moderation log, the PlatformAuditLog, and our ticketing system, and are reviewed before publication. Where a category had zero activity during the reporting period, that will be stated explicitly. Aggregates are reported in calendar quarters; rounding is to the nearest whole number.

Notes on scope

BookOS is an “intermediary service” under Article 3(g) DSA and, where salons host public-facing reviews or galleries, may also constitute an “online platform” under Article 3(i). BookOS is not designated as a Very Large Online Platform (VLOP) and accordingly does not publish the additional metrics required of VLOPs under Article 42. Our average monthly active recipients in the EU are well below the 45 million threshold.
